Infiltration.

Yesterday - thanks to to some friends - we gain access Edinburgh's Festival Theatre. One of the lovely people that took me on this fun trip is doing an art project based around theatres and we were allowed to have a look round so she could take pictures. I had no idea that this was happening; I just assumed that they were going to be tickets for something.

We were met by a very enthusiastic education officer by the name of Emma how took us through the stage door into the backstage area where we got to see one of the many dressing rooms, the green room, the telephone ticket sales room, the auditorium (obviously. It was stunning) one of the boxes - I suspect it was the Royal Box - and most excitingly the stage. It was massive. You could have easily fitted our entire theatre on this stage. We were also told the story of The Great Lafayette, which I think is a blog in itself.

It ended up being a lot more than just a tour and opportunity to take pictures. Our guide gave us so much info that we can incorporate into our little theatre, such as sponsorship from different companies. I think we all came away with different ideas with how to implement these ideas. I spent pretty much the whole of last night banging on about this trip and my ideas to my Dad. I would have thought he would have been bored but he told me that they were all good ideas and he wanted to hear them, which was nice.

Speaking of our little theatre they have just managed to get some substantial funding so work will start on the building in October, which is very exciting. Step one; get rid of the rot and fit new seats. However we are going to have to completely empty bits of the theatre which is going to be horrid.

While in Edinburgh we found Forbidden Planet, where we shall be going on Sunday so I can make a fool of myself (see my previous post) and just generally had a good time. Well, I did. I hope the other two did as well.

That's enough for just now. I could post about the crammed bus journey but I think most people reading this will be familiar with my general contempt for buses...
