The King is dead, thank God.

Taking a step back to look at the big picture I thought The King And I went rather well. Admittedly, all I saw were the bits before the juniors went on stage and the bits that the juniors were on stage for, as well as some of the scene entitled Uncle Tom's Cabin. The stress is something that I never want to go through again, specifically the stress that a few of us were getting from one particular individual, who shall remain nameless and the Youth (yoof?) workshop has finally seemed to accept me as a person, which is a result in itself. The only thing I have left to do is to edit the two shows that were filmed (we had two casts - more or less - so two recordings) and give them to interested parties.

The annoying thing about having to edit the shows is that there are some people who can't seem to work out that all I can do is work with what's been filmed. For example, someone once asked if I could remove someone who had got up to go to the toilet. "No." I said. Since this show took place in the assembly hall of my old school - and gosh, wasn't it weird being back there? - there are many variables which no one seemed to take into account. The fact that you can hardy hear any lyrics over the band; the fact you can hear the double bass player tuning up through some of the dialogue; again, people walking right in front of the camera while going to the toilet. If it had been up to me I would have got a professional company into do it, but no one asks me. I'm just bundled with these bloody tapes and expected to work some sort of non-existent magic on them.

So that's my moan. Actually editing the show is far from time-consuming. The things that take a really long time to do are playing the show into my computer, that has to happen in real-time; a two hour show will take two hours to get in there and creating the disc image; which is the code for the show, all menus etcetera etcetera etcetera that will be burned onto the disc. For the most part I probably put in about two hours work stretched out over maybe a day or two. I currently have no drive to do it though. I just want a week without having to do anything about it.

The Juniors after show party is tomorrow, with juniors production team (that's what we're called in the program!) curry afterwards. Should be a laugh, except we have to set up for it still.

There's a video slideshow of pictures from The King And I on the Lanark Gazette website, for anyone that's interested. May I recommend turning the sound down to view it.
