While looking on Wikipedia to see what other interesting events happen on the 6th of September, other than my birthday, I found days that I didn't know existed. Four full days! Those days are January 0, February 30th, February 31st and March 0. Anyone else know about these dates?
Of course, they are 'days' as we know them. January 0 is the day before January 1st, according an annual ephemeris, which is a "table which gives the positions of astronomical objects in the sky" apparently. They use January 0 so the new table doesn't have to refer to the previous year, even though January 0 is December 31st.
March 0 has something to do with the Doomsday Rule and is, frankly, too difficult for me to summarise here. If anyone wants to read it then just go to Wikipedia and type 'Doomsday Rule'.
February 30th occurs on the Swedish, Soviet, Early Julian and Artificial calendars but not on the Gregorian calendar, which is obviously the one we use and February 31st is a day which is used as an example date; for instance mock or example statistics to show that the data being viewed is not real.
So there you go; four 'days' that you may not of known about. Incidentally I share my birthday with tennis players Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman, Idris Elba (Stringer Bell in The Wire) Michael Winslow (the bloke from the Police Academy movies that does all the sound effects) and Nina Persson, the lead singer in the The Cardigans. And the 6th of September in parts of America and parts of Canada is Stillbirth Remembrance Day. Which is something, I suppose.
