France - Part Seven. ‘The End.’

After I had posted the last blog I went with Lorna and Catriona to play two rounds of crazy golf. I really suck very badly at golf. We then loaded the car (I say ‘we’ it was more ‘I’) and tried to get an early night. That didn’t happen as Lorna and I got slightly drunk by finishing the Pimms.

The journey back was split into two parts. Saturday was a nightmare. We left pretty much when we wanted to and entered into a world of troubles.
- We had bought SO much stuff I was sort of wedged into the back seat and really couldn’t move.
- The bike rack on the back of the car was a being stupid and needed tightened up every time we stopped.
- We very nearly ran out of petrol.
- The cable that powers the lights on the bike rack slipped out and got crushed.
- The directions I was using took us on a very winding route.
- The weather was awful.

We overcame all of these obstacles and arrived at our stop. We were staying at the house of one of Lorna’s friends. Actually, it was her parents’ house, but it was great fun. The parents hugely reminded me of the parents of a friend of mine. Right down to the Dad having huge, scary eyebrows.
I sampled some amazingly odd drinks. One was about 40% proof and it had a pear in the bottle. It was tasty but I had to be poured into the car.

Anyway, we eventually got back at about six o’clock this evening ending the French fun.

I’m not sure how many posts I will put up this week. They will all sort of gravitate to the fact that this time next week I will be in Scotland having finished my stint of glorified baby-sitting.

I’m looking forward to being back though.
