Yesterday I mentioned Lucerne is a bit wacky. First I’ll tell you why I was there.
Cath had asked if Lorna and I were available to help her move house as she starts a new job in Lucerne on Monday. Unfortunately Catriona had a birthday party to go to so Lorna was unable to help out. But I was, so I told her I was more than happy to help.
Cath picked me at the back of eight (Lorna and Catriona weren’t awake; yesterday was the first day I was in Switzerland that I didn’t see either of them at all) and we headed to a place just out of Fribourg called Marley were Cath’s parents stay. By the time we got there Cath’s Dad, Marius and Markus (M&M) had loaded all the heavy and awkward stuff into the van.
They all headed off and Cath and I followed them about half an hour later. We then proceeded to get stuck in traffic so by the time we got there Cath’s Dad, M&M had unloaded all the heavy and awkward stuff out of the van.
We had some lunch on the balcony of Cath’s new place while watching a display by the Swiss Army on the sports field that the house overlooks. Shortly after that Marius left and Markus and I built Cath’s new table. As previously mentioned in this blog men have to build Ikea furniture.
We then headed into Lucerne by the means of bendy-bus. This was incredibly exciting for me as I have never been in a bendy-bus. Maybe ‘incredibly exciting’ was a bit of an overstatement, but it was fun.
We walked down the road over the Lake Of The Four Cantons towards a place to hire Pedalos from. So we did. I wanted to hire one in Amsterdam but my parents didn’t seem keen. So we got one and went on a wee cruise around the lake, which was lovely.
After that we found a great restaurant, sat outside and tucked into a cheese fondue. Half way through it we could hear a brass band in the distance. Five minutes later they were right next to the restaurant playing a selection of swingin’ tunes. They were brilliant entertainment.
After that we basically headed home, getting back around 10-ish. All in all a busy day, but enjoyable. Slightly weird not to see Catriona or Lorna, even more weird to find out this morning that Catriona missed me. I honestly thought that she wouldn’t care...
