SWAN ATTACK!! (Nearly...)

Most Sundays we toddle along to Murten and go swimming, which is usually pretty stressful. Murten has three indoor pools; the huge pool with lanes for proper swimming and two big old diving boards and diving pool; the paddling pool for babies and toddlers and the other pool for everything else. We normally go to the other pool and it’s always mobbed and that makes it difficult to have fun. You’re always trying to avoid crashing into other people and it’s just a pain in the beam-end. Now, I knew that Murten had an outdoor pool, but I didn’t know that wasn’t the full extent of it.

Out side they have pretty much the same set up, a large pool with lanes, a little baby pool and a pretty large other pool that had no one in it! We went in there as even though it was cold it wasn’t raining and we had great fun. As I said at the start of this post we go swimming most Sundays but yesterday was the first time I actually felt like I went swimming. But that isn’t all.

The swimming pool is on the banks of Lake Murten (or Lac de Morat) and – you guessed it – you can go swimming in the lake. There’s a death slide into the lake, a see-saw thing and a diving board as well as a huge inflatable shark and. And it was a pretty pleasant temperature yesterday. Yes, I went in. I got out pretty fast when I saw a swan heading straight for me looking pissed off.

Anyway, I am now looking forward to going back and messing around in the outdoor pools again. Maybe even swim in the lake a bit more.

Oh, and I can tell you first hand not to do a running bomb into a relatively shallow pool (we’re talking about one and a quarter meters here) it really hurts your feet when they smash off the bottom.

But the limp wore off pretty fast.
