Breaking the speed limit, JACKIE CHAN STYLE!

Today was the twenty-five kilometre bike ride.

It. Was. Brilliant.

Where do I start with this? Well, the start of the day was frankly rubbish. Has anyone ever tried to fit these bike bars to the top of a car? They’re impossible! Once again I wished I had my Dad’s brain.
Anyway, once we got the bikes on we headed off to Bulle where we were starting from. You can start the ride from anywhere you want on the track and then you just cycle back to your starting point.
Lorna, Catriona and I were joined by Lorna’s friend Cath and two of her friends; Marcus and Marius. Marius was a really nice guy, who took a terrific interest in the word ‘eejit’ after I called myself one for messing up a gear change. There’s only one way to describe Marcus, sadly not many people will understand this description, but Marcus is a Swiss Stuart. Anyone who hasn’t met Stuart let me know and I will sort out some sort of introduction. And Cath was her usual lovely and supportive self!

Anyway the route was pretty much everything you would expect in Switzerland, hilly and stunning views. The weather was very cloudy and a bit wet near the end of the route, but it was all fine. The course its self was around Lac de Gruyere and the event is called a Slow-Up. Basically all the roads around the Lake are closed and you follow this route. This was lovely as it meant I could drive on the proper, left side of the road.

Catriona cycled a lot by herself, so two big thumbs up to her. However, when she got tired she went on the childseat on the back of Lorna’s bike and her bike was attached to mine via the aforementioned Trial-Gator and I towed her bike. It wasn’t a problem at all apart from two things 1) It gave me the turning circle of a tractor and 2) It doubled the length of my bike.

I could go on about this a bit more but I do try and keep my blog posts to a certain length so I’ll stop now. Needless to say I had really good fun and my legs are a little sore at the moment and probably will remain bad tomorrow. But I really feel like I’ve achieved something today!

Cheery-Totty-Max!
