I love the iTunes Store. In fact I love most things Apple (not all, I see no point in the iPod Shuffle). I don’t buy much music from it, when I do it tends to be albums that are very tricky to track down and/or expensive or Skunk Anansie EPs and B-sides. I have also been known to buy Audiobooks from it too. But I mainly use it for Podcasts.
I subscribe to a number of podcasts; mainly comedy ones. Adam and Joe’s shortened 6Music show is incredibly funny and giggle-some, 8 Out Of 10 Cats is a good way to keep up the news story plaguing the younger generation, whereas The Friday Night Comedy From Radio 4 podcast (either The News Quiz or The Now Show, whichever one is on) takes a slightly twisted look at the larger stories. And then there’s The Onion Radio News that, in my mind, is the perfect little podcast. I get some to keep my inner-geek at bay; two Doctor Who related podcasts, one daily and one weekly Apple podcast. And then – of course – there’s Stephen Fry’s Podgrams and The Best Ads On TV podcast (you have that to thank for my Pete The Meat Puppet post of a few weeks ago).
My point is this; there’s something for everyone there from news, sport and economics to film reviews, photography tips and how to speak different languages. And the bulk of them are free! You can get on there, download a sample episode or two and away you go. What’s not to love?
There are a number of things I would like to change about the iTunes and the store though. I would like to be able to either bookmark pages somehow or be able to create a wish list, much like Amazon. I would like to be able to add fields to genre and composer, giving me as many tags as I want for each, but then again I am picking about my tagging.
That is the end of my blog, are there any questions?
