In about five months I’m heading back to school. I am going to spend five nights (maybe more, I don’t really know) in the P.E. department of my old high school. What fun and high jinx it’ll be! Especially when you factor in the fifteen to twenty kids I’ll be looking after. I felt I did such a good job in Switzerland looking after one that looking after twenty was the next natural step. And if anyone feels the need to make a joke then I will point out that I have my Disclosure Certificate (basically, a lovely piece of paper saying that I’m not a criminal or sexual predator. I want to have mine framed).
The local Am-Dram group are putting on a production of The King And I that is going to use all the workshops; the kids, the teenagers and the adults. Since we can’t really use our regular building then we will be using the school. It’s going to be problematic, hence the reason I’m not getting heavily involved; I don’t want to get trapped in any major fall out. The whole thing reminds me of the Family Guy episode ‘The King Is Dead’.
It will also be the very last time I am ever in that building. A few months after the event the school will be closed when the new school that is currently being built opens. A few months after that happens the old school will be torn down and some houses will be built where the old school was. I do have some great memories from that place, but I can’t say that I’m overly disappointed that it’s being pulled down. I just hope the next generation of students takes good care of the new building.
Anyway, must go and get showered and dressed, I’m heading into Glasgow to pick up a few bits and bobs for the week; maybe go to Woolworths to see if I can get anything on the liquidation-cheap. It’s been ages since I bought any Pic’N’Mix from Woolies.
I WILL NOT be buying any CDs though...
