What with David Tennant deciding to vacate the TARDIS there is now a huge debate as to who will be Doctor #11. The BBC website has a piece as to who the bookies favorites are.
Paterson Joseph (he of Neverwhere, The Beach, Green Wing and - most notably - Peep Show) is favorite. Potentially the first ever black Doctor. David Morrissey who stars in this years Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Next Doctor, as a future incarnation of the last timelord is also in the running.
I would truly love to see Julian Rhind-Tut as the next Doctor; I think he would be perfect. And he’s ginger. We all know the Doctor has always wanted to be ginger. I also think (although this will NEVER happen) that Eddie Izzard would be a pretty good Doctor; just imagine what his outfit will be.
Which brings me neatly onto the subject of a female Doctor. This won’t happen. The Doctor is a man and I think that it’s just the way his (fictional) biology works. And I can’t really think of any actress that could pull off the role of the Doctor. If anyone can suggest one then I will give them due consideration.
I will be sad to see Mr. Tennant go, he has been a cracking Doctor. But it does give Steve Moffat a new Doctor to craft the way he wants to.
I’m looking forward to seeing who will be standing there after the regeneration.
FYI; I’ve now used the word ‘Doctor’ twelve times. Jings.

OMG!!!!! Izzard for Doctor!!!!!
Of course, you've forgotten to list Paterson Joseph's enthusiasm for the game Numberwang, which undoubtedly makes him supremely qualified for all things.
If you can figure out that game, you can probably fly a Tardis.
That, my friend, is a truly excellent point and I wish I had thought of it.
I have it on reliable authority that Eddie Izzard is not in the frame this time, but as we were talking on the London Underground at the time they wouldn't tell me their suspicions.
But I know people who know. That is a slightly pathetic boast really.
