Here comes a rant, da da dada...

Is anyone else really annoyed by this Eurovision Song Contest thing? It seems very much like Andrew Lloyd Webber has said "Right, I'll write the song and then go on telly for six weeks and find someone to sing it." And here was me thinking we got to pick a song for Europe, not an act for Europe.

There have been far too many of these programs anyway. Any Dream Will Do to pick a Joseph; How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? to pick a Maria for and now this. I'm getting bloody sick of Lloyd Webber.

My brother made a very good point. Why not just hire actors? You know, people who have gone through training and know the ins and outs of a West End/Broadway show. The only reason for these twelve weeks of trying to pick a star for the show is so Lloyd Webber gets twelve weeks of free advertising for said show. The slogan is probably "You voted for him, why not come and see him? Terry Tips is The Phantom Of The Opera" or some such drivel.

Now is probably the time to say that I've never seen any of these programs, I have better things to do with my time. Banging my head off a wall for example.

Bottom line; we won't win the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, we won't even come in the top 50%. So why waste your time?
