Goodness, I’m so incredibly tired. There’s been a lot of walking and stressing in the last week. As previously noted Catriona’s first day at school was Monday. I had to go and get her, take her home and feed her lunch, then take her to crèche. On the way to get her I went on a ten minute de-tour round to the local dump with bags full of rubbish. Then I took her back home.
Yesterday I went to the dump again (just to get rid of all the rubbish in the house) and then went to the school to get Catriona. Later in the day we had to go back to crèche as we had left a bag there on Monday afternoon. Then back here for the evening. Lorna was out at a work dinner until about half ten, so I had to put Catriona to bed.
Stress.
I found out that the best way to get her to go to sleep is to just not talk to her. Once I had worked that out she was asleep in about three minutes. I do think though that was the one and only time that I’ll have to do it.
Today she wasn’t at school or crèche, but we went into Fribourg for a play date. More stress as I had to get her to the train station for a certain time, then round to the park then back to the train station to catch the train back again.
She seemed to have a good time though. And we managed to meet up with my replacement.
The trouble is that Catriona still pretty flatly refuses to walk anywhere, so I end up carrying her most everywhere. Meaning that at night when I go to bed I’m absolutely shattered and my arm is killing me. When she does walk it’s really slow and she complains she’s tired. I will grant you she is only four, but she needs to start walking for herself soon.
The next week and a half should be a bit better. We leave tomorrow for France, spend the night in a hotel about two hours away from where we’re staying and finish the journey on Friday morning. On Saturday Lorna is doing a marathon, so I will (probably) spend the day with Catriona and her Grandparent; my Aunt and Uncle.
As Lorna will be there all of the week except Saturday it should be a bit more relaxed than the previous three days have been.
We get back to Belfaux on Sunday of next week (the 14th) and I then have to show the person replacing me everything she should need to know about Catriona. I also have to find time in that week to pack. Not that it will take me overly long as I am dumping a lot of stuff on my Aunt and Uncle on at the weekend for them to drive back to Scotland for me.
So, don’t expect many blogs or emails while I’m away. I can’t guarantee that there will be an Internet connection where I’m going. I’ll just have to wait and see.
I hope everyone has a good week and a bit!
