France – Part Two. ‘The calm after the storm.’

As I write this it’s half past nine on Sunday morning and the runners from yesterday are slowly coming out of their rooms looking a little worse for ware. Considering I drink about a bottle and a half of red wine last night I’m in surprisingly good spirits.

Last night we set all the tables from the various flats up outside and had a big meal; several bowls of chili, pasta salads and the like. It was most enjoyable. I was one of the later people to head in at half 11, but there were still a couple of people enjoying the mass of wine that was purchased on Friday.

Yesterday was good. Ian, Margaret, Catriona and myself headed out to get details of a ferry that my Margaret and Ian want to catch on Tuesday, had some lunch, went and met Lorna and the race’s finish and headed back here. I took Catriona swimming in the complex’s pool for a bit to get her out of the way and then we ate. That was it really. A fun, enjoyable 24th birthday for me.

I’ll be sure to write something more interesting next time. Until then...
