Last night I went to Dunblane to pick up the stuff I had given to my Aunt and Uncle to take home for me and make arrangements for the last of my stuff to be brought back from Switzerland next month. Due to weight issues I was not able to take everything.
My journey home went pretty smoothly right up to the flying bit. I got the train (first class no less!), got to Geneva Airport, checked my bag in, had a coffee and a muffin (nerves forbid my from eating well before I get on a plane), then a couple of bottles of beer, and headed through security.
The problems started when a couple turned up five minutes after we were supposed to turn up and demanded a better seat because they had booked speedy boarding. Either the pilot or the co-pilot came out of the cockpit and told them to be at the gate on time in future and to take a seat as they were holding one hundred and fifty people up. I heard all this as I was forth row from the front, but he wasn’t being quiet about it.
The plane journey was – for the most part – uneventful. I went without my standard EasyJet coffee, opting instead for EasyJet red wine.
The last problem of the day was when we were on a approach. They had to pull back up and circle Edinburgh Airport because I plane wasn’t going to be able to get off the runway in time. Of course, it was no problem to a seasoned flyer like myself.
I was crapping it.
So, here I am at 9:45 (10:45 according to my laptop; I must change it to GMT) still in bed. I’m enjoying being back although I think missing Switzerland will come in a few days.
Maybe in a couple of days I’ll also work out how to end these blogs in a satisfying way.
