St. Moritz vs. Davos.

I’m not going to blog about the journeys to and from St. Moritz because it’s a long story. I’ll maybe write about it tonight and post it tomorrow. Needless to say we got there with only one little problem that resolved its self. Well, I resolved it. YARR!

Saturday started with me locking myself out the hotel; some locks are f***ing stupid. After that little bout of foolishness we all met at breakfast and planned the day. We headed on the bus to get Cath and Lorna’s run numbers we then headed towards the Alps. There’s a good advert for Converse All Stars; I wore them up the Alps. Strictly speaking we took a cable car up and walked on a path down. The cable car was good fun, even though we were only in it for about ten minutes.
After we had returned to town we ate and headed back to the hotel, all had a little lie down, headed for dinner and all went to bed.
The thing about St. Moritz is that it’s 1775 meters above sea level meaning the air is thinner so you get tired very easily if you aren’t used to it.

Sunday was complicated. Lorna and Cath headed off at about eight in the morning and Markus and Marius (referred to from now on as M&M) headed off to see them start while I stayed in the hotel with Catriona. M&M got back we got all the bags and headed by bus to a place called Samedan. We managed to stash the bags in the station and head to Bever where the race finished. Lorna made it in just under three hours with Cath coming in ten minutes later. After they had showered we headed back to Samedan, ate, got the bags and headed back.

That was pretty much our weekend.

Truth be told I didn’t really like St. Moritz. Don’t get me wrong, it’s lovely there. The trouble is – in my view – Davos set such a high benchmark and St. Moritz didn’t measure up to it. It’s also very expensive as it’s a pretty exclusive ski resort.
Funnily enough it did snow while we were there. Not down as far as us but people were scraping ice off their cars on Sunday morning. Good times.

That’s me now got one full weekend left in Switzerland. This weekend I’m here then I’m off to France on the 3rd, get back on the 14th and the following weekend I leave.

I have a lot to do when I get back to Scotland. Not only must I get a job, a car and a driving license allowing me to drive said car, but I have to go up to Perth, across to Edinburgh and down to London. London will only happen if the person I want to visit will have me.

This is now stupidly long. Tomorrow will be my tales of the two journeys. That’s something to stay alive for anyway.
