Roughly twenty seconds after walking out of the train station in Berne I was nearly knocked over by a tram. Things didn’t get much better after that. Another tram, a car, two buses and a cyclist tried to finish me off. I’m not going to say none of these were my fault, I had my MP3 player on and trams are pretty quiet. But in some areas that I was in there were no obvious differences between the road and pavements - that explains the buses. The car was pulling out a parking space and the cyclist was… well the cyclist was just a dick.
For people that have no life you may have worked out that this is my third trip to Berne in under a week. I had a good toddle round the town (with my camera this time) and went everywhere I wanted to visit. I went to the river and got a couple of pictures and bumped into a couple of bikers from Inverness of all places. I still stand by my belief that I’m the only pasty ginger in Switzerland. I also went and had a look at the theater, had a wonder round the shops (I went back to Starbucks, it’s a shame I’ve been there more in this country than my own) and even found a bakery and bought myself a pretzel. ‘Twas good.
The downside was that big screens and stages were being erected for some sport thing that’s happening here soon, so some of the streets were completely shut off or very difficult to get down. The same with some of the squares that I wanted to go to. But, as I said last time it’s only half an hour away, I can be there and back in a few hours.
I have to go off and do my French homework now. I only have two lessons left now so I will soon be blogging about my language course as a whole.
Oh, and I'm going to hell. I accidentally swore in front of a Nun today. In my defense I swore in English, so maybe she won't tell on me. And the reason that I swore is because Swiss automatic doors aren't very automatic.
